Meet Tammy
Tammy Sheedy · Author & Storyteller
Tammy Sheedy has spent her life surrounded by two things she loves — books and animals.
A librarian living in the Chicago suburbs, Tammy discovered that some of the best stories weren't hiding on library shelves. They were happening right in front of her — usually involving one of her cats.
Stanley brought adventure, curiosity and more than a little mischief. Shaw brought a story of courage and determination. And along the way, Tammy realized that the real lives of animals could become stories that help children laugh, learn, care and understand just how special the bond between people and their pets can be.
When Tammy isn't writing or surrounded by books, you'll probably find her cheering for the Chicago Cubs or Blackhawks, working on a jigsaw puzzle, or spending time with her five feline friends — Stanley, Sharpie, Hawk, Alex and Shaw.
For Tammy, every pet has a personality. And every personality has a story waiting to be told.
Meet Sarah
Sarah Gutierrez · Illustrator
Sarah Gutierrez brings Tammy's stories — and their four-legged characters — to life.
A library associate in the Chicago area, Sarah is an artist, illustrator and co-author who loves creating almost as much as she loves animals. Her watercolor illustrations give Stanley, Shaw and their friends the expressions, personalities and emotions that young readers see on every page.
Sarah is also the co-author and illustrator of Peachy's Perfectly Purrfect Day.
When she isn't creating art, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, gaming, and being with her family's two cats.
And if you happen to find Sarah with a paintbrush in her hand? There's a pretty good chance she's painting a cat.
Better together
Tammy finds the stories hiding inside the everyday adventures of animals. Sarah gives those stories their faces. Together, they turn real animal experiences into books children can carry with them — stories about belonging, responsibility, bravery and love.
